Imagining and Landscaping the Horace Mann Educational Ecosystem
On September 14, the Springfield Civic Garden Club invited Knob Hill CEO Landon Kirby to lead a tour and presentation at Horace Mann’s downtown campus.
This nationally recognized, Gold Award-winning project features an environmentally conscious aquatic ecosystem designed to reduce the property’s carbon footprint while creating an engaging and functional outdoor space.
Club members explored the property and learned how Knob Hill helped bring Horace Mann’s original vision to life. Thank you to the Springfield Civic Garden Club for sharing an interest in this meaningful project and the planning, collaboration, and craftsmanship behind it.
Project Spotlight: Springfield's Summer Paradise
One of this year’s standout projects transformed a Springfield backyard into a private summer paradise. An eye-catching pool water feature, colorful patio furniture, and a covered grill station create a beautiful and functional space for relaxing and entertaining, rain or shine.
Strategically placed lighting throughout the pool and seating areas keeps the retreat welcoming well after sunset. We are grateful to our customer for trusting Knob Hill to bring this vision to life and hope the space inspires memories with friends and family for years to come.

Cooler air and changing leaves mean fall has arrived. Soon, those colorful leaves will cover lawns and walkways, clog gutters, and add another task to your seasonal checklist.

Flowers of September
Aster
With star-shaped blooms in shades of purple, blue, pink, and white, asters add color as many summer plants begin to fade. Their name comes from a word meaning “star,” and the flowers are associated with love, wisdom, patience, and new beginnings.
Asters are also one of September’s traditional birth flowers and provide an important late-season food source for pollinators.

Morning glories are known for their colorful, trumpet-shaped blooms, which typically open in the morning and close later in the day. The climbing vines add color and vertical interest to fences, trellises, and arbors.
Associated with affection, renewal, and resilience, morning glories remind us to appreciate beautiful moments while they last.
